Personal Experience
Guidance Partner was born out of my own experience witnessing the struggles my child and other family members faced when it came to career choices during high school and beyond. They were unsure whether to pursue college, which major to choose, or what career opportunities each path would offer. I took the time to research degrees and career options with my daughter, guiding her as she made these crucial decisions. After she graduated, I also helped her create her resume, highlighting the skills and abilities she had gained through her education.
A Revealing Encounter
It was during this time that I met a mother who had retired but returned to work part-time to help her son pay off his college loans. She told me about her son’s friends who chose trade schools and were thriving as plumbers, able to afford homes without the burden of student debt. Meanwhile, her son, despite his degree, struggled with a job that didn’t provide enough to pay off his loans and save for his future. Her words—that she wished she could have guided her son to make a more informed decision about his career—stuck with me deeply.
The Birth of Guidance Partner
These experiences inspired me to create Guidance Partner. We are passionate about helping students, regardless of their chosen educational path, to discover their ideal career paths and make informed decisions that lead to a fulfilling future. To support this, we launched our Job of the Week Series, which provides in-depth insights into diverse career options, their requirements, and real-world experiences.
